Web Audio Review: Audio Generator /
Instant Audio
NOTE:
This is not a sales letter. This is a critical review and analysis
of this web audio program.
What it is:
Both AudioGenerator.com and InstantAudio.com are audio recording
and audio hosting services that automatically take a piece of audio,
embed it into a Flash SWF movie, and generate code for you to place
on your website.
Who created it:
Rick Raddatz, owner of InstantAudio.com, USA, a former employee
of Microsoft Corporation. Armand Moran bought a private license
of InstantAudio.com and named it AudioGenerator.com.
How it Works: You record your audio
by phone, by microphone, or by file upload. Once the message is
in the system, the service converts the audio into a Flash sound
movie and generates a line of code for you to place on your website.
Both the audio and the Flash button are stored on the provider’s
servers. The line of code merely pulls in the Flash button to display
on your site. When the visitor presses “play”, the audio file is
streamed to the visitor from the provider's server.
Web Audio Advisor Review:
Without a doubt, this is one slick service that Rick Raddatz has
created. Overall, this system is extremely easy to use, and provides
extremely clear instructions for all steps. Other than the relatively
steep monthly investment, this service offers a lot of flexibility
for putting web audio on your site.
First in flexibility is the recording part of the Instant Audio/Audio
Generator. You can put audio into the system in one of three ways:
record-by-phone, record by microphone, and by uploading an MP3 file.
The record-by-phone feature works just like a voice mail system.
You call a toll-free phone number, enter your ID, and record your
message. Similarly, once you sign-up, you are provided with a special
toll free number you can share with customers so they can call in
an "audio testimonial". You can even record customized
instructions to help them leave better testimonials!
Note: even though this system is reported as "toll-free",
you actually pay 14.9 cents per minute to record by phone, and you
are charged 14.9 cents per minute for your customer's testimonials.
The second way to add audio is to record by microphone. This feature
only works with Windows-based machines. It allows you to plug a
microphone into your computer, and record your audio over the internet
into the service's computers. There is no charge for this record-by-microphone
feature as there is for record-by-phone.
The final way to load audio into the system is by uploading a pre-recorded
MP3 file. You must prepare the audio as follows: MP3, 24kbps, 22.050
KHz, Mono. They provide instructions on one way to convert WAV files
to MP3 files. There is also no charge for this conversion as there
is for the record-by-phone feature.
Once your audio is recorded, it's given the generic name of "New
Recording". You can easily change the name to something more
descriptive. Also, after you edit the name, you can choose any of
the 5 publishing wizards to use the audio on your site.
The five publishing wizards walk you through creating the code
necessary to post the audio on your site, to create an audio postcard,
and to even create an audio link for an eBay listing.
Cost: $29.95
per month , plus 14.7 cents per minute for incoming calls to record
audio.
